What’s a Skate Date?  It’s where we plan a location to meet up and skate!  Check-out this recent outing with Skate Like a Girl SF!

Where: Women’s Building & Potrero del Sol Park, SF
What: SLAG SF will be collaborating with the non-profit organization San Francisco Women Against Rape (SFWAR) on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Come out and join us in support of SFWAR’s 6th Annual Walk Against Rape starting at the Women’s Building and Ending at the Potrero del Sol Skatepark. SLAG SF will be participating in the march and providing a skate clinic as well as skating the Potrero Skatepark at the end of the walk. There will be performances and vendors as well for the remainder of the day. Proceeds from the day’s events will go out to the organization’s services that support survivors of rape and sexual assault. The walk will begin at 10 am and end around 1:30pm with activities throughout the day at Potrero del Sol Park. Our clinic welcomes everyone. This event is open to individuals of all ages and all abilities. Michelle Bush from Fort Bragg asked Skate Like A Girl SF, if we’d come help support the construction of their new skate park via clinics.

Fort Bragg was in need of some lovin’ and support. They needed to raise funds for their skate park.

Of course, being the skate park supporters we are.. we replied “YES!”.

We were able to make a whole tour out of it. A rental van became our means of transport from one city to the other, and the weather became our enemy. It was scorching and we literally put our sweat and tears into our skating.

The beginning of our tour started at Potrero Del Sol in San Francisco. We also hit up Ripon Skate Park where we met up with Lisa Whitaker and a few other girls. Girls who made the trek with us on the tour were as follows: Jolie Pitetta, Patty Fung, Yil Sag, Jin Hei, Staycee, Anna Nabba, Erica Harris, Kristina Narayan, and Ashley R.

Bay Area Skate Dates

Ladies! You asked for it, you got it! More skate dates in the Bay Area!

March 13th Santa Cruz: Hope to see you all in Santa Cruz at noon!

After skating the Santa Cruz park for a bit we might head to Derby or Scotts Valley.

April 18th St. Helena: There will be another skate date Sunday April 18th at noon at the St Helena skatepark in the North Bay, flier coming soon.

Memorial Day weekend: Skate date extravaganza at Willits and Fort Bragg. There will be lots of skating and a ladies clinic! (TBA).

Yoga for Skaters:

Every Sunday at 4pm: Donation based yoga class geared towards your skating aches, pains, and progression. Add skating years to your life! This is an all-levels ashtanga vinyasa class. It is donation-based, thus completely affordable, it costs whatever you can afford or desire to donate. Holler back for more info: skatelikeagirlsf@gmail.com.
