This is the second year the Skateboarding community has been invited to be part of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Come skateboard, celebrate spring and Japanese culture. This event is free, and open to all ages and abilities. We will have a variety of activities for novices and experts.
Come early and sign-up for free skateboard clinic (10 am) with Skate Like a Girl. Watch Kaze Daiko and local teams from Skatebarn and BFC demo. Come showcase your talents at the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Where: Women’s Building & Potrero del Sol Park, SF
What: SLAG SF will be collaborating with the non-profit organization San Francisco Women Against Rape (SFWAR) on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Come out and join us in support of SFWAR’s 6th Annual Walk Against Rape starting at the Women’s Building and Ending at the Potrero del Sol Skatepark. SLAG SF will be participating in the march and providing a skate clinic as well as skating the Potrero Skatepark at the end of the walk. There will be performances and vendors as well for the remainder of the day. Proceeds from the day’s events will go out to the organization’s services that support survivors of rape and sexual assault. The walk will begin at 10 am and end around 1:30pm with activities throughout the day at Potrero del Sol Park. Our clinic welcomes everyone. This event is open to individuals of all ages and all abilities. Come out for fresh air, exercise, and support of a good cause. Girls in Space is a great time for families of all ages to come and skate!
Do you have a young girl that is itching to learn to skate? A family that wants to learn together? Well, Girls in Space is here to help! Skate Like a Girl rents Innerspace for two hours so kids and parents can learn to skate. The whole idea behind Girls In Space is that men and boys can be a part of our girl-positive atmosphere.
Clinics are from 10am-12pm. We start at 10:10 am sharp, so come at 10 am to check-in and put on gear. After the clinic volunteer instructors are still around to cheer you on and give you tips.
Are you a gal that has already logged sometime on skateboard, and you just want to roll around the ramps? Well, we have Free Skate time from 11am – 12pm.
Costs: $15 for a clinic, $5 for drop-in skate, $5 to borrow gear. (family rates available)

Hey lady shredders n friends! Come join us for the third annual Wheels of Fortune, a female skateboarding showcase! Sunday December 19th at Skatebarn! All ages and abilities are welcome to enter the jam-format contest. Advanced/Pro ladies will compete to win our famous “grassroots cash purse” (we’re not sponsored by an energy drink company) and Beginner + Intermediates will battle it out for hella prizes! Best Trick contests will also be held in the mini ramp, ledge/manual pad + hubba/double set.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are going to fund raise skater style. Join us for a day of skating, demo’s, swagg raffles, and awareness for young people.
Ripzu owes its creation to a young survivor and it’s logo to another young survivor. Help us raise funds to give back in the support of your loved ones. Check out Ripzu Skatepark on facebook for more updates, or check them out at www.ripzu.com.
The Skate Like A Girl Portland girls only session comes before Ripzu’s “Boarders 4 Boobies” event from 11-1pm. It is open to girls of all ages and abilities. We will have volunteer coaches on hand to help teach you the basics and more. If you need gear, we have it! We have a supply of boards, helmets and pads for use during the session. All proceeds from the Skate Like A Girl session will be donated to the Breast Friends (www.breastfriends.com).
Then after the session stick around from 1-5pm to skate the park, win some prizes, and watch some demos! Help us raise some money for Breast Cancer Awareness!

She has been skating just a little over a year. We are so lucky to have her skating with us! When she’s not too busy getting good grades, having a positive attitude, and being rad, she is making videos on ow to kickflip. Check it!
