History

Established in Olympia, Washington in 2000 as an unincorporated association, Skate Like a Girl is a volunteer-run organization founded by Holly Sheehan and Fleur Larsen. In 2005 Skate Like a Girl relocated to Seattle, and in May 2007 incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in Washington State.

Skate Like a Girl serves young girls and women with skateboarding and educational programs in Seattle and the surrounding areas. In 2007 Skate Like a Girl expanded programs and created new chapters with residents of Portland, OR (October 2007), and San Francisco, CA (August 2008).
