Board Members & Volunteers

Skate Like a Girl is divided into 3 chapters: Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco.

Seattle serves as the umbrella for all of the chapters. We are run by a Board of Directors, and dedicated volunteers that sit on our two active committees: development and programming.

Current Board of Directors

Nancy Chang, Board Chair

Nancy holds a MPA and a BFA from the University of Washington. She has volunteered with Skate Like a Girl since 2006, with the goal of building organizational capacity. In 2009 she led the effort to incorporate Skate Like a Girl as a 501(c)3.  As Chair, she is excited about creating economic and leadership opportunities for young women. She is a 2008 L’oreal Paris’ Women of Worth for her work. Nancy is the teen program coordinator at the City of Redmond, and is actively involved in the King County Youth Development Network.  During her free time she enjoys traveling and learning.

Leah Eister-Hargrave, Vice-Chair (Development)

Leah graduated from Whitman College in ’95 with a degree in Art History and Japanese.  She’s a full time working mom of two, and is employed at a 100 year old company that sells holiday wreaths as fundraising programs for nonprofit groups. She brings knowledge of marketing, donation procurement, and social media skills from her job. In her free time she is an active community volunteer with several organizations, such as the 46th Street Mural Committee, KapKa School, NARAL Washington, and FAWN neighborhood group. For fun she enjoys skateboarding with her daughter, reading, knitting, art projects with her kids, and yoga.

Allison Bilas, Vice-Chair (2010-11)

Allison works for Pop Cap as a business analyst. She holds an MBA from the Foster Business School at the University of Washington, and a BA in International Business from Western Washington University.  She brings a wealth of experience from the private sector, where she worked as a Consumer Research Analyst and Strategic Planning Project Specialist at WAMU.  In her free time she travels, enjoys photography, and civic engagement.

Kristin Ebeling, Treasurer (2009-11)

Kristin recently graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in History, with a minor in Labor Studies.  As a professional level female skater, she competes internationally, and began volunteering for Skate Like A Girl in 2006.  She represents Skate Like a Girl as the Director of the Seattle Chapter.  She has created a strong community of female skaters in Seattle, by creating programs like afterschool girls skateboarding clubs and internships, and an annual all girl skateboarding contest that draws girls from all over the country.  Kristin recently skated in the Super Girl AM, where she placed 2nd, and the Maloof Money Cup where she was in the top 15.
