What about SLAG
It's more than just skateboarding
History
People

Skate Like a Girl (SLAG) strives to build community coalitions with other groups and organizations that are working to challenge oppression through education and dialouge, with the hope of creating better communities for everyone. In the past SLAG has organized all-girl skate jams, week-long summer skate camps and other events. SLAG offers instructional clinics to female groups of all ages and all levels- from never-eva to forever-eva.

Skate Like a Girl is an unique organization locally and internationally providing an innovative approach to female empowerment and leadership on the individual level, promoting women's skateboarding on the community level and at the same time striving to produce a collective of women who strive for social justice. These ideas are captured best in our vision, mission, and values.

Vision Push a broad agenda to build community, challenge oppression and empower young girls and women of all-ages to grow into strong, confident leaders who promote and implement social equity.

Mission Use skateboard programming as a vehicle for change, seeking to create a positive space that fosters confidence in girls and women, to help them to learn and master skateboarding and leadership skills within a supportive environment of other female skaters.

Core Values Account for the changing needs of young girls and women. SLAG is up to the challenge of evolving as an organization and finding innovative ways to promote confidence and nurture future female leaders. SLAG values experiential learning, civic participation and social justice. SLAG strives to uphold an all-inclusive ethos of all-ages participation and diversity.
